Tourist traffic
Sir: I couldn't agree more with your views about tourists and London (Notebook, 19 May). But how do you distinguish the really interested from the junketers who treat the city as a giant American theme-park? I have been able to afford to visit England eight times since 1971 to indulge my love for the country and its capital. A tourist tax may simply ensure that London sees more rich gamblers and fewer middle-class Anglophiles.
