Sm,—Your correspondent writes drawing attention to the fact of a skylark singing so early as January 25th. The writer of that letter cannot know his " Gilbert White" well, for if he refers to the Naturalist's Calendar in that excellent book, he will find the date of January 21st given as the earliest date recorded for the skylark to commence to sing.—I am, Sir, &c.,
