U.S. Purchase of British Shares AN INTERESTING PROBLEM.
READERS of the Spectator will donbtless have- noti that during the past week somewhat acute controve has arisen with regard to a fresh issue of shares by t General Electric Company. I do not want to -go at into the merits of that controversy, but simply to ita the broad fact that it has centred around the quest of the new shares being issued only to Britisheta to se for this country the maintenance of the control of company, which, through the acquirement of la blocks of shares, appeared to have passed, or to ha been in danger of passing, under the control of Ameri holders. •
