Sir: Congratulations to John Keegan for calling to order the
professional doubters who on television and the radio have been misleading public opinion during the Gulf crisis. I have been struck by their bullying attitudes, often at the expense of guests who are far better informed than they are, but are handicapped by imperfect English. The technique of putting victims under pressure reminds me of security police interrogations. And why do Peter Snow and Paxman stab the air and point their fingers at their guests, as if they were arguing on a street corner? Is it not rude to point?
