Effie Penrose is made the victim of a most extraordinary scheme on the part of a lady who is bent on marrying her to her son, and is justifiably wroth thereat. How things are made to come right after some very strange gyrations of Fortune's wheel, the reader may find out for himself, if he will; but he must not object to the improbable.
