COUNTIES AND SHIRES
[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR.]
SIR,—Your last correspondent attacks the use of the word
Argyllshire as the name of that county. I would like to point out that there is a small district, within the county called Argyll, between Loch Awe and Loch Fyne. May I suggest that the use of the word Argyllshire is to differentiate between the county and the district ?—I am, Sir, yours
Buckingham.
