Lofty bonding
Sir: Last week, halfway up an Italian Alp at 6,500 feet, six of us living for a week stacked three high in a room like a 'Wagon- Lit' compartment, were all strangers gath- ered to climb mountains on skis. Yet five were Spectator readers. Much delight ensued, and much altitude-induced insom- nia alleviated, by this common bond.
Like the old Times' first cuckoo corre- spondence, I wondered if other readers have similar encounters with which to demonstrate the excellence and ubiquity of your magazine, and their own discrimina- tion and taste!
