The fight for existence made by the first Miners' Union in 1831 is here dramatically exhibited through the principal character of Thomas Hepburn, an early Union or ganger. It is essentially a type story, though well and closely 'ritten, and might have been applied to almost any industry or district during the last century when the consciousness of the industrial worker was being roused.
