Sir: It is a little puzzling that you retain a television critic who appears only to enjoy the Muppets yet has the gall to advise John Cleese 'Not to Labour Jokes to Death'.

Would it be possible for you to ask (say) Christopher Booker to write an in-depth analysis of the Richard Ingrams persona which might make acceptable to your readers Mr Ingrams's apparently insatiable craving to dispraise?
