There was rather a serious attempt to renew the riots
in Manchester on Thursday. The hands of a mill in Salford were turned out. At the factory of Messrs. Morris, in the Oldfield Road, the mob was repulsed by the hands who were armed. In the afternoon some large factories in the Oxford Road were attacked, and windows were broken. The Police were active ; ringleaders were captured from time to time and mobs were dispersed; but the alarm continued to a late hour of the night. Yesterday morning the streets were quiet, but they again exhibited the Spectacle of bodies of police and special constables marching about in all directions.
