A Hewison speaks

Sir: All right, for a considerable number of years Sheridan Morley and I collaborated on the weekly drama review page of Punch, he producing the words, I the caricature drawing alongside. (I currently do a similar job for the Times alongside the words of Ben Nightingale.) Now for some reason Mr Grahame Morris of the Theatre Royal, Plymouth (Letters, 11 January) has decided that 'a Hewison' should enter the language as a useful term of dispar- agement for any theatre critic acting wild and loose. But why drag me into it? I'm a quiet, lovable soul, a pen and indian-ink man who always genuflects when Adrian Noble passes by. A thought: Mr Morris hasn't mixed me up with Robert Hewison, has he?
