Surviving Mugabe

From Major Sidney Vines Sir: While I do not doubt the story of the horrors of present-day Zimbabwe, as recounted by Peter Oborne ('Living in a state of terror', 11 January), it does not tell the full story. I know an elderly Englishwoman, still living in a suburb of Harare as she has done for more than 50 years, She has a fine house, five full-time servants, and a beautiful climate. Mugabe leaves her in peace. She visits her family in England occasionally, but always returns to Zimbabwe, where she is not 'living in a state of terror'.

Isn't there a certain Ian Smith living out his days in Zimbabwe in a similar fashion?
