A CORRECTION.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."] SIR,—You do not seem to have noticed that the argument of the Church Times rests upon a misrepresentation of the statute 1 Edward VI., chap. i. This Act does not refer to parishioners as such, but orders "the blessed Sacrament" to be " ministered unto the people within the Church of England and Ireland, and other the King's dominions." It prohibits the minister, "without a lawful cause, to deny the same to any person that will devoutly and humbly desire it." The persons entitled by statute to Communion must, therefore, be " within the Church" by baptism, and not excluded by any lawful cause—that is to say, by any offence for which the Ecclesiastical Courts would decree excommunication.—I am,

Sir, &c., W. PRESCOTT UPTON. Church Association, 13-14 Buckingham Street, Strand. [We cannot alter our decision not to continue this

correspondence, but as the above letter professes to correct a misstatement as to thd statute we publish it.—En. Spectator.]
