Under the Sky in Cal; forma. By C. F. Saunders.
(Grant Richards. 7s. 6d. net.)—We are apt to think of California as a garden set in an exquisite climate. Mr. Saunders wishes to draw attention "to an immensity of almost unexplored mountain, desert, canon and flowery plain which the average tourist sees—if at all—from the car window. This is the real California." The book not only describes its main aspects, but gives directions how they may be seen with the minimum of inconvenience—though a certain readiness to rough it in a mild way must be postulated.
