Divided land
Sir: I enjoyed Peter Ackroyd's witty criticism of the film Excalibur (11 July) but I cannot agree with his contention that the Arthurian legend has no contemporary resonance. Following the violent disturbances of the past week and the woefully inadequate responses of our political leaders to the situation, what could be a more apt comment on Britain today than 'The Land Was Divided And Without A King'?
