No one who listened to Tuesday's proceedings could have much
doubt as to the discontent of the farming com- munity. Several speakers called attention to the catastrophic fall in cattle and sheep prices, and there appears to be a growing feeling in favour of a scheme of price insurance. Mr. George Lambert was as usual gloomier than anyone else, but nobody was cheerful. The Minister declared that he was not one who would ever discourage a healthy pessimism among those engaged in agriculture. Such discouragement would certainly have been out of place this week among the representatives of the shires.
