• * * Students seized an armoured car and were

soon joined by thousands of peOple, who paraded the streets shouting " Down with the officers ! Long live the people ! " This meant, of course, that the Greek people are utterly sick of the succession of military dictatorships. The Government of General Kondylis called upon the demonstrators to disperse, but when they refused firing Was opened on both- sides. Again several people were killed. For the moment General Kondylis is in a stronger position than before, but the spontaneolis outburst of feeling can hardly be ignored by any ruler who wishes to develop security and confidence.
