Too much genuflection
From Mr Eric Hester Sir: Damian Thompson's brilliant article ('Anglican miracle', 12 April) should be compulsory reading for all the Roman Catholic bishops. If anything, it understates the 'cringing genuflection to left-wing pressure groups'. For more than ten years lay people in England tried to get the Bishops' Conference to accede to the specific request of the Pope to have a 'Day of Life'. Last year we had one, but nowhere, in the mass of left-wing clichés, was there mention of the word 'abortion', though the Pope had said this must be the most important item.
