Bomb on a bike
From Mr Edward Verity
Sir: While I don't dispute Harry Mount's -views on Martin McGuinness or the police's frequently inverted priorities (Hands off my bike', 12 April), I don't believe he is correct to assert that 'there has never been a bicycle bomb in Britain'. In August 1939 an IRA bomb left in the basket of a bicycle killed five people and injured 100 in Coventry — a particularly cruel attack, given what the city was shortly to suffer at the hands of the Nazis.
