ABORTION AND MEDICAL PRACTICE
[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR] SIR,—Sir Benjamin Cohen says in his letter in your issue of August 12th that it is certain that the legalisation of abortion would not be sanctioned by public opinion. But, I submit, perhaps a considerable majority of the voters would approve of any mother with two or more children being able legally to have the operation if she wished. Such a reform of the law would greatly reduce the serious amount of unhappiness and ill-health prevailing among married women and also would arrest the deterioration of the race.—I am, Sir, yours respectfully, B. DUNLOP, M.B. Manor Fields, Putney, S.W. r5.
