Arnold Delahaize ; or, the Huguenot Pastor. (Bell and Daldy.)

—A tale of the persecutions consequent on the Revocation of the Edictof Nantes by Louis XIV. The early part of the story, which treats of the here's boyhood, is not equal to the latter part, but it is, on the whole, a well-told and interesting narrative, and one of which the moral is happily allowed to appear rather than obtruded. And what is still more commendable, the author never allows his sympathy for the persecuted to make him unjust to the French Catholics. The book may be recommended even to grown-up children.
