DISCOUNT HOUSES' PROFITS.
The London Discount houses are able to give a good account of their operations for the past year and the annual Report of Alexanders Discount Company is an excellent one. The net profits show an increase for the year of nearly £30,000, thus much more than providing the extra amount- of dividend required on the new capital raised a year ago. Consequently, after maintaining the dividend at. the previous rate, there is an increase in the carry forward of nearly £12,000. The balance sheet shows a general expansion in activities,-including an increase in' the Bill portfolio. A. W. K.
