Anthropology has been called, among other things, " the study of rude people by more rude people," and "the study of marriage customs by the unmarried and unmarriageable." A prize of £5, which may be divided, is offered for similar definitions of the following : psychology, sociology, prehistory, economics.
Entries must be addressed to the Spectator, 99 Gower Street, London, W.C.1, in envelopes marked " Competition," and must be received not later than January 31st. Results will be published in the Spectator of February 9th.
