Abortion city

Sir: How rare it is and comforting to read a cool and rational appraisal of the abor- tion situation without a scream or a shrill word in it. I refer of course to your corres- pondent Dr John Rowan Wilson's article `Abortion city' (12 July). An attitude of civilised scepticism to the whole matter may not appeal to the extremists of the Abortion Law Reform Association but is in admirable counterpoint to their dreary and over-simpli- fied propaganda.
