The Marquis Townshend died at Raynham Hall last week, and
that indiscreet but active philanthropist, Viscount Itaynham. who will sacrifice his time for a week to punish an not of cruelty, and. then bring in absurd bills which would make it a penal offence for a mother to " spank " a naughty child, is transferred to the Upper House. The coronet cools hot heads, and Marquis Townshend may be as useful as Vis- count Raynhani, and excite respect, untinged with the faint -soupcon of contempt which has hitherto followed his labours.
