FICTION AND MORALS.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."] Sin,—In reading your note on the subject of "Fiction and Morals " it occurs to me that possibly some of the distinguished men and women who are showing their interest in this matter may have forgotten, or even may not know, of the work of the National Home-Reading Union. For 21 years this Union has worked under its chief founder, the late Dr. John Paton, in an untiring effort to lead all classes of the community, and especially the young, to read pure and good literature, considering that in this way will the taste fix what is poor and objectionable be most successfully eradicated. The aims and methods of the Union, its book-lists and magazines, and its circles, have been frequently described in your columns, but the fullest particulars will be given on application to the Secretary, Miss Read, 12 York Build- ings, Adelphi, W.C.—I am, Sir, Sze., M. R. PEIDEADS.
