One alarming prospect that threatens the nation is a new
outbreak of peace celebrations. Why, with two V-Day double holidays— involving, if I remember the figures rightly, the loss of something like 2,000,000 tons of coal alone—behind us, we should be sub- mitted to yet more dislocation and discomfort it is impossible to conceive.
