Pamela Gilbert I} 63 Old Road, Headington, Oxford Waugh bashers
arSir: Your Mr Bookbuyer must have ;bgot well and truly sloshed at the idchristmas party of the Publishers' itPublicity Circle. He states "Mr. Auberon Waugh, our novel re
viewer . . . was awarded the Critic bid the Year prize at the annual 1}1party of the Publishers Publicity 1Circle." This is wrong in at least two particulars.
Firstly the Critic of the Year , prize was one of several presented by our firm and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Publishers' Publicity Circle. Secondly the Critic of the Year prize was awarded to a Miss Aubergine Waugh (pronounced ' wuff '). Clearly Mr. Auberon Waugh is
not the critic of this year or, }indeed, any year. et If you do not print this .teorrection immediately, we shall !report You to the Press Council
and you know what that will mean.
