Sir: A propos of Mr Waugh's article on fox-hunting (24 June), it may interest you to know that a 2nd Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Diet, Herr Bengtsson (Centre Party), the other year introduced a Bill to abolish the practice of keeping cage-birds. Herr Bengtsson suggested that the government charter an aeroplane and transport our feathered friends to their natural habitats. It seems that Herr Bengtsson was quite serious. The Bill failed.
