No 1583: Overheard in the Tube

It was on the Bakerloo line yesterday, and it was unwitting poetry: Is there a single town or city with a monument to a commit- tee?' Using this as your first two lines, please write a poem (maximum 16 lines), in octosyllabic couplets, or after McGona- gall or Ogden Nash, or as you will. Entries to 'Competition No. 1583' by 14 July.
