THE ALTERNATIVE VOTE SIR.—Mr. Hollis has misunderstood my letter. I
did not say the alternative vote would not be worth hav- ing, if we could get nothing better; what 1 did say was that we must not expect the alternative vote to give us what only PR can give.
That, on a question like the Common Market, the side with the more votes will get the fewer seats would be made somewhat less likely by the alternative vote, but by no means impossible.
