He is quite wrong in thinking the Army 'with- drew and tried to embark in 1914.' I was one of those w ho went to France with my regiment in 1914 and we stayed there until we had finished the tot+ four years later:

In 1940 we did withdraw but I would remind Herr Menshausen that we came back again with our allies four years later and stayed until once ..gain we finished the job.
