In spite of the sincerity and good intentions of many
of the speakers the wiser minds of the nation will, we feel sure, continue to support the policy of the Government in regard to Persia and the maintenance of the Anglo-Russian Agree- ment. It is absurd to talk of that policy as if it were the private and criminal "fad " of Sir Edward Grey. It is just as much the policy of his colleagues. While they remain in the Cabinet they are just as much responsible for it as is the Foreign Secretary.
