Bitter Blow
Sir: Whether Simon Blow's bitterness ('Tennants for a season', 13 January) over his treatment by his Tennant relations is justified or not is of no consequence. Equally, it is of no consequence whether these relations of whom he is both so proud. and so resentful would (as he claims) have done themselves a service if they had taken his observations on their 'genetic frailty' more seriously.
But it is really quite shocking that Mr Blow should seek to use the death of a young man from Aids as an excuse for such a self-serving article lacking even the smal- lest sign of compassion for Henry Ten- nant's brother, sisters, parents and other relations who, whatever frailties they may have inherited, cannot be blithely assumed to be untouched by their bereavement. Yet you, Sir, not only published it; you billed it proudly on your cover. This is not only shocking; it is bewildering.
