Sir: Leaving aside the question of the dis- graceful irresponsibility

of the ITV pro- gramme on the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, the only possibly significant point raised by its reporter, Nicholas Owen, has now been demolished by Frederick Forsyth and Phillip Knightley (Letters, 13 June). There were, however, three interesting points that did emerge from the pro- gramme: 1) On the evidence of the interview with him, James Hewitt has a curiously con- trived accent.

2) From what we saw of the interior of Dodi Fayed's Paris apartment, he was badly in need of a few lessons in good taste from Diana.

3) Why did the egregious Mr Owen choose to keep his mackintosh on while being shown round the Windsor house in the Bois de Boulogne?
