SIR,—Your 'Spectator in Cambridge' writes that the old enthusiasm for
political debate is no more. He may be right that interest in party politics is waning, but he completely overlooks the significance of the University United Nations Association which, with 3,000 members, is the largest and most active society in Cambridge.
. . - The problems which concern CULINA- assistance to the underdeveloped world, international understanding, disarmament — are fundamentally moral problems. They will be solved not by a change in political methods but by a change in moral out- look. CUUNA's wide support reveals a welcome interest in moral rather than political issues.
In view of this, the decline in political controversy in the University should not be regarded as apathy or disillusion but rather as a growing moral aware- ness.
