Young men forget
Sir: I am surprised and puzzled by the omis- sion of the abolition of Exchange Controls from the Moore family's list of improve- ments since 1979 (Another voice, 22 April). This must be one of the greatest freedoms enjoyed by the majority of people; many who will vote for the first time at the next election have no recollection or experience of being limited to £250 spending money when travel- ling abroad. It is certain that even Charles Moore seems to have forgotten that Labour was the party of rationing as well as taxation.
I hope that he and others will bear this in mind when next they stock up their car boots with cheap booze in France.
