On Friday evening Lord Lytton telegraphed the words of a
letter from Yakoob Khan, dated the 11th lust, In this letter the Ameer professes sorrow, hopes to punish the mutineers, and states that he has preserved himself partly by bribes and partly by "hoaxes." He mentions incidentally that "certain persons of high position in the provinces have become rebellious," but says he is watchful.
