Sons.)—Mr. Patrick has done well to preface his account of Origen's Apology with an analysis of the work which it was written to answer, the "True Word" of Celsus. Such an analysis will be a novelty even to many students of theology, and certainly a useful novelty. In some respects, the anti-Christian attack has changed its method ; but there is still something to be learnt from what Celsius wrote, as there certainly is from what Origen replied to him.
