SIR, —Angus Maude has voiced a sentiment shared by countless and
voiceless Tories. The dilemma is simply that Mr. Heath and Mr. Wilson are almost interchangeable; either could cross the floor in the middle of his speech and continue from the opposite side of the House without raising so much as a ripple of wonderment.
Until the Conservatives can formulate an un- mistakable Conservative policy and find a leader capable of enunciating that policy unequivocally, then I fear that many of us will view a forthcoming election without any enthusiasm whatever, for in the present context of the two main parties any electoral decision can result only in the status quo ante, which God forbid!
