Vanity case
Sir: Mr Alistair Home (Letters, 14 Jan- uary) suggests that Jeremy Paxman should follow up his article by another: to advise distinguished politicians, generals, heads of industry etc. how to protect themselves from the gratuitous offensiveness of over- bearing television inquisitors. Obviously Mr Home is better versed in the law than I; is it mandatory for representatives of those groups to submit themselves to such cruel interrogation? I thought their own vanity lured them into Jeremy's joint for a mild mauling on the medium. Your columns are such a rich source of illumination.
