SIR,—Knowing how much you have done to promote good feeling between America and Britain, may I ask you to publish this short appeal ? I urge the British Press and public to refrain from cheap criticism and idle jesting on the United States's endeavour to enforce Prohibition. Whether we approve of Prohibition or not, we must at least admire the courage and self-denial which inspired the Americans to embark on so noble an adventure.—I am, Sir,
