PARTITION AND THE CROWN
SIRS Mr. Rawle Knox does not think that allegiance to the Crown is now a fundamental issue between the North and the South. I know the people of Ulster. Today their loyalty to the Crown is as deep-seated and as passionate as ever it has been. They are determined to remain in the United Kingdom. There never has been a United Ireland. The South has chosen to opt out of the United Kingdom and wants to compel the North to do likewise. To say that the fundamental dispute is upon the issue that no part of the island has a right to opt out of a United Ireland is simply a form of special pleading.—:Yours faithfully,
