Three-dimensional chess is now being played in New York on
eight superimposed boards. For this it has been found necessary to invent additional types of chessmen, with greater powers than those of the traditional pieces. For the usual prize of £5 competitors are asked to name and describe the appearance and capabilities of two such extra pieces of their own invention. Limit 150 words.
Entries, addressed 'Spectator Competition No. 223,' 99 Gower Street, London, W.C.1, must be received not later than June 1st. Results in the Spectator of June 11th.
