Famous Discoveries by Land and Sea. (Blackie and Son.)—Here we
have eight stories in chronological order, beginning with Christopher Columbus's discovery or rediscovery of America, and ending with a sketch of Mango Park's travels in Africa. For the most part the narratives are well known, the least familiar to English readers being probably those of the explorations of Cartier in Canada and Bougainville in the Pacific ; but there is no reason why they should not be told again.
