HELPING CHINA

Sill,—The Spectator has always been friendly to China. Is not this the time to urge that the Allied Powers should try io give her some measure of war equipment, however small? If Japan is kept preoccu- pied, our forces in the Far East will not need supplies of munitions from home other than those they possess. In the long run this policy may prove wry beneficial to us as well as to China —Yours faithfully, R S. EGERTON. The Royal Automobile Club, London, S.W. r.
