A kiss is just a kiss
From Lord Grantley Sir: Tessa Keswick (`Kiss her quick, William', 30 September) argues that 'it is something of a scandal that more is not done by the Conservatives to address the women's problem', and that consequently `William must announce some sexy policies for women'. In all her words, however, she failed to identify a single problem with

which women are exercised, or any policy at all to address, whatever the problem might be. Her only recommendation was that Mr Hague (sorry, 'William') should 'grab' his wife and give her a long kiss in front of the television cameras. Whatever one thinks of this recommendation, which seems to have come from the Campbell–Mandelson school of image consultancy, it hardly amounts to a policy, 'sexy' or otherwise.
The Centre for Policy Studies, of which Tessa Keswick is the 'director' (no less), used to be a fine organisation. How has it sunk so low? I do not know what sort of `studies' it undertakes nowadays, but on this occasion they seem to have gone missing. Grantley
