Off to Heathrow
Sir: It seems as though poor Mr Lewis just cannot win. On the one hand his earnings are threatened by the prospect of a rapa- cious Labour government (`Sixty per cent of nothing' — 27 April) and on the other by the corrosive effect of British society on his American ability to make a living, (Not angels but anglophobes' — 17 August). While we should be particularly grateful to Mr Lewis for his major contribution to Britain as a bond salesman and a journalist, please reassure him that we will bear him no ill•will if he decides to catch the next plane home.
