The funeral of Sir John Millais took place on Thursday
in St. Paul's, the body being buried in the crypt, like those of five of his predecessors in office. Lord Rosebery, the Com- mander-in-Chief, and a number of other celebrities, including representatives of the Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Prime Minister, were present. The popularity of Sir John Millais as a painter, and the distressing circumstances con- nected with his death, drew a great deal of public attention to the ceremony, and the Cathedral was filled by a large congre- gation.
