SWALLOWS KEPT IN WINTER AS PETS

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sin.—In Bewick's British Birds, 1847 edition, there is an account of swallows being kept as pets for several years by a Mr. James Pearson, of London, towards the end of the eighteenth century.'
